Contract Workers and co-workers shaking hands

A contract worker is a worker who can have a contract stating they are an employee, but it does not indicate the contract worker’s status. Most businesses pay for employee benefits such as insurance and pensions, but contractors often do not receive the same benefits.

For example: Your business may not require a new employee for an upcoming project, so you may want to hire a contract worker to work for the duration of the project and leave.

Contract worker used in a sentence: We someone who specializes in roofing to complete the project; let’s hire a contract worker to do the roofing.
