How to get a Response from Your Email

Email marketing is still considered one of the best strategies today. Despite all the advancements in digital marketing techniques and strategies, some old-school techniques still provide great results. Email marketing is one of those strategies. It’s one of the oldest techniques used on the modern digital platform. This strategy takes your message directly to the user’s inbox and increases the likelihood of them seeing the message.

However, in a world where people are constantly bombarded with content, you need to make sure your email stands out. Regular, poorly-planned emails just won’t cut it, and might even get you shunted to the spam folder. Here are some ways in which you can increase the likelihood of getting a response from your prospect.

1. Subject line

The subject line is the first thing they see, so you need to make sure it’s attention grabbing and impactful. The user must be tempted to open the mail just after looking at the subject line. This is more difficult than most people realize because it’s not easy to be creative with something as restricted as the subject line. The best way to handle this is to keep the line short and sweet with no more than 5 to 7 words. You can add numbers to the subject line as well, but be sure to add numeric instead of words.

2. Use social proof

Peer pressure isn’t limited to high school hallways. You experience this in your adult life as well though most adults don’t recognize it. That’s one of the reasons why emails that mention peers of the recipient or emails addressed to multiple people the recipient knows often have a higher response rate. Don’t hesitate to mention the peers or connections share with the recipient in the emails because you’re more likely to get a good response.

3. Mention their name

Adding the recipient’s name to the email immediately makes it more personal and that can help you establish a connection with them. Expert marketers recommend mentioning the name several times in the content. That will help keep their attention focused on the email. You should also make sure the name is mentioned naturally and flows well with the content of the email. If you mention the name too many times in a disruptive manner, you’ll only alienate the reader.

4. Short and sweet wins the game

Make sure the emails are short and sweet instead of lengthy and verbose. People have a short attention span and don’t like to spend time reading emails unless they have to. Keep the message short and get to the point quickly. You’re more likely to get a quick response to such emails.

5. Be clear and specific

You should also be very clear and deliver all information in the email in a straightforward manner. If you’re vague and unclear, you’ll only frustrate and alienate the recipient. If you give them clear instructions and end the emails with open-ended statements that compel them to respond, you’re more likely to get a response.

If you plan your email well and make sure the body of the message is well-written and well-structured, you’ll see more success.
